Is it permanent hair removal?
Laser hair removal has been extensively studied for 25 years. Treatments with certain high quality lasers show long lasting results. BodyLaser Clinics only use lasers that have been clinically proven for hair removal and have FDA approval. We do not compromise on quality results and so we avoid the cheaper laser and IPL equipment on the market.

How does Laser hair removal work?
A cold Laser handpiece cools the skin surface as Laser light travels through the skin to the hair follicle. This light is absorbed by the pigment in hair, causing enough heat to shrivel the follicle and terminate hair growth. Each single pulse treats a large area - the procedure is quick and effective, not only for facial hair removal but also for all body areas. Hair may sometimes be ejected from the follicle during the treatment but usually it is shed over the following week. The treatment safely eliminates hundreds of hair follicles instantly! Be hair free. No more electrolysis, waxing, shaving, or plucking!

Treatment by Nurses
At BodyLaser Clinics registered nurses perform laser hair removal treatment. Results depend not only on the types of laser used but also on the knowledge, training, judgement and skill of the operator. Each member of our nursing team has been trained in medical and surgical care at major hospitals. In addition each has been trained in the use of lasers and IPL systems. Our nurses have performed thousands of laser treatments. They are professional, friendly and highly experienced.

How many treatment sessions are needed?
Hair growth follows a cycle, each individual hair will spend time growing, then entering a resting phase before falling out and eventually being replaced by a new hair. Clinical research has shown that hairs in the growth phase at the time of treatment respond better to laser treatment than hair that is not growing. A course of laser hair removal treatments is needed to eventually catch all hairs in the growing phase. Treatment intervals are 4 - 8 weeks depending on the body area (treatments performed at shorter intervals are less effective). Whilst personal preferences vary, most people find that a course of six treatments is sufficient. Women who have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) normally require more treatments.
For safety reasons we do not use cheap Lasers or IPL devices from the Far East because these do not have FDA approval. You can be sure you are in safe hands. We perform laser and IPL treatments in dedicated and approved laser clinics - not in a nail salon or hairdressers. We do not employ beauty therapists to perform laser treatments.
Other hair removal options
More than 20 years ago it was discovered that lasers could be used for hair removal. Prior to laser epilation the only permanent solution for facial or body hair removal was electrolysis. This was a slow and tedious process and therefore hair removal over large areas was not feasible. As a result many people chose waxing as a temporary but quicker solution for excess body hair. Unfortunately waxing does not produce permanent results and it is expensive in the long term. With laser hair removal it is possible to remove large areas of hair rapidly and achieve long lasting results. Initially only fair skinned people could have laser hair removal because there was a risk of complications with darker skin. Today with the use of Nd:YAG lasers all skin colours can be safely treated, including Asian and black skin.
There is no evidence that shaving or waxing makes hair grow back thicker. It would be easy to prove if it were true.
