Vein Treatments

Veins Treated on the Face and Body

Unsightly veins can be treated in all parts of the body. Laser light is used to erase red or blue veins - without needles or injections.

Who can be treated?

Adults of all ages are suitable for treatment but people with certain medical conditions have to be excluded. Your suitability for treatment can be assessed during a free consultation. We do not treat varicose veins (the large 'lumpy' leg veins).

What types of veins can be treated?

We can treat both red veins and blue veins with excellent results. Facial veins, spider veins and large blue leg veins respond well to treatment. Small facial veins (telangiectasia) and spider veins can be treated quickly without bruising - often one treatment is sufficient for these. Large blue leg veins can also be treated with excellent results.

What does the treatment feel like?

The skin is cooled before and after each pulse of laser light. Most people experience a slight sting but this is quickly alleviated by the skin cooling system. Following the treatment the pain is minimal to nonexistent.

What are the possible side effects?

Although many patients report few if any side effects, those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin in the treated area. These effects typically last for some hours. Some patients may experience blistering but this is very rare. Leg veins may exhibit slight bruising for some days after treatment.

What happens after the treatment?

Patients generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, with leg vein treatment we recommend that you avoid vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment. The use of sunscreen is recommended for any treated area exposed to the sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure.
