Botox (botulinum toxin)

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are very popular treatments for softening active frown lines. They are made from the same neurotoxin (botulinum toxin type A). They work by relaxing the muscles that create frown lines on the forehead and crows feet around the eyes so the overlying skin stays smooth and crease-free. The most popular treatment areas are the frown and worry lines of the forehead, the laughter lines around the eyes, and in certain areas around the mouth or in the neck.

Botulinum toxins are injected using very fine needles in very precise locations on the face. Discomfort is minimal and the treatment is over in a matter of minutes. After three or four days the effects are seen with the full benefits becoming visible up to ten days after treatment. The results last for around three to five months before repeat treatments are required.

Restylane

Restylane is the world's most popular dermal filler. It is used to treat those permanent frown lines and creases that are still visible when your face is relaxed. Restylane is a crystal-clear, non-animal, biodegradable gel based on hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your skin. Its job is to help provide fullness and elasticity. Overtime, skin loses hyaluronic acid and as it diminishes, skin loses volume, increasing the chances for wrinkles and folds to appear.

Once Restylane is injected into the skin with a very fine needle, it lifts and adds volume to the areas being treated. The effect lasts for around 6 months.
